HVAC Tax Credits and Rebates

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Have you been on the fence about purchasing a new heating and cooling system hoping the air conditioner makes it through the summer? Did your furnace fail at the end of the previous heating season? There are incentives to purchase a new HVAC system this year in Louisville.

2010 is the final year for federal tax credits via the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  Clients that purchase qualifying HVAC systems (air conditioners, furnaces, or heat pumps) receive a tax credit of 30% of the first $5000 spent.  If you used the tax credit in 2009 for a qualifying purchase, you can take the credit again in 2010 for a new purchase.

Funds are still available through the Kentucky Appliance Rebate program. This money had been completely reserved earlier in the program. However, many consumers allowed the reservations to expire. As of this morning, there is over $100,00o available. You can check here. Qualifying hybrid heat systems are eligible for $700 in rebates.

That’s a total of $2200 saved on the purchase of a high efficiency hybrid heating and cooling system! Start saving money today on your heating and cooling bill. Give us a call at 244-4328 or use our contact form for more information.

Endless Summer

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

The air conditioning repair season has been full tilt since the middle of May. The heat doesn’t seem to want to leave any time soon either. Louisville weather forecast shows low to mid 90s for the next ten days.  However, school is back in session in many Kentucky districts. That means cooler air isn’t too far. Yet, the last thing on your mind is your furnace or heat pump.

We’ll start scheduling fall furnace heating tuneups after Labor Day in just a few weeks. What should you expect for a heating tuneup?

Meh. We’ll cover that later. It’s just too darn hot to think about a heating season tuneup right now. Enjoy the rest of  your summer and be sure to call us if you need air conditioning service.

A great loss in the HVAC Industry

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

On Sunday August 1, 2010, the HVAC industry lost a great contributor, Murray Woodgate. Most of us never met Murray in person as he lived in the Cayman Islands. However, many of us knew Murray as a great friend through online HVAC discussion forums.

Murray was a walking ASHRAE handbook. If you had a difficult problem, Murray could solve it. If he couldn’t solve it, which rarely happened, he knew the person that could. His ability to see through marketing hype and show us how something really worked was uncanny. Many a design engineer learned just how lousy their product worked thanks to Murray’s abilities.

He was also a gracious host for those visiting his beautiful island. There are many stories of him holding a sign with your name on it on the pier and greeting you as only the gentle giant could greet someone. Then, he would give you the tour that only a local could give you. Unfortunately, I never had that tour.

Murray Woodgate lived a short life of 49 years, but his contributions to our industry will long be remembered.

God speed, Murray. May your family have peace and comfort.
