A Celebration of Running

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

When I’m not repairing furnaces or installing new HVAC systems, I love to run and exercise. I share my running experiences with an athlete community on Twitter. I was introduced to a runner from California that happens to be a K-State grad. His name is Sam Felsenfeld. You can read his story here.

To commemorate Sam completing 61 marathons, athletes across the country are running 6.1 miles on 12/26/10.  We are holding our satellite run at Louisville’s Waterfront Park. The run will start at 300 p.m. at the Big Four Bridge parking lot on the Kentucky side of the river. We’ll run downtown, cross the bridge and return.

Will you join us? This is a fun run! We aren’t racing. So, please don’t think you have to be speedy to come hang with us. Registration is available online here. Your $25 donation will go toward autism research via Train4Autism. You can also create a fundraising page and get your friends to donate $30. Then you can run for free. Hey, that’s a great idea. I should have thought of that! Good plan, Sam!

If you aren’t in the Louisville area, you can still run 6.1 miles in Sam and Jack’s honor. Just register and let Sam know where you’ll be doing your run.

Thanks for your support! Let’s get out there and fight autism!

Running Crazy…

Friday, July 30th, 2010

Hope everyone has been enjoying their summer. It’s been a busy one for Certified Comfort Heating and Cooling. I thank you for your business and referrals.

As many of you know, I like to run for exercise. I took a long break from running, but have rekindled the fire. During the spring, I completed the Louisville Triple Crown of Running (5K, 10K, and 10-miler) and the KDF Minimarathon. I’ve spent the summer running from my truck to the air conditioners in clients’ backyards with some speed training in the mornings.

With the end of summer heat (maybe… the forecast shows 90s next week), we start seeing quite a few races around the Louisville area. If you are a runner, jogger, or walker, there are plenty of options. Swags has a really good race calendar. Click here. I’ll be running the Grand Slam 4-miler, Southern Parkway Moonlight 8K, and Downtown Doubler 15K leading up to the Louisville Half Marathon on October 17th.

If you aren’t regularly exercising, I highly encourage you to consider it. I’ve personally seen a great improvement in my health since getting back to a fit lifestyle. Certainly nice to wear those 34′s again and my back doesn’t hurt from toting an extra 20lbs.

Best of luck to everyone running over the next few months. Hope to see some of you out there.

Spring HVAC…err…running the race

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

I sat at the computer with the intention of writing a blog post (the first post here) about spring air conditioning maintenance.  Can’t get the words from my brain to my fingers as the Derby Festival Mini Marathon is still on my mind and sore legs.

I finished my first half marathon yesterday in 2:36. It wasn’t as fast as I wanted to run.  I walked too often, and I just couldn’t get a settled pace. However, I did it, and I’m really happy that I was able to complete the race.  I’ll be working hard to improve my time for the Indianapolis half marathon in October.

There. Got that unloaded. I’ll get a HVAC post rolling a little later.
